About Oversight

Oversight is a hard-hitting mainstream rock group from Southern New Jersey. Formed in 2003, the band started off writing songs on acoustic guitars, often practicing late into the night on the porch. Even then it was obvious to the members of the band that the music they were creating would not fit in easily with the dominant scene, which at that time was very punk and emo oriented. Still, Oversight managed to build a loyal fan base and went on to compete in many local Battle of the Bands competitions, playing stages that many small town bands only dream of.

While much of the last two years was spent looking for a new rhythm section, Oversight continued to play shows consistently, sometimes resorting to playing an acoustic set or playing with no bassist to avoid cancelling a show. Their newest EP was also recorded at this time. The end result of the search is a much more skillful and complete line-up, one that has no weak points in its armor.

Although times have changed and the local scene has been turned on its ear with the return of hardcore metal, Oversight remains the sole beacon of hope for mainstream hard rock in Southern New Jersey, proving that they can adapt and succeed in any situation.
